Hosted by The Gaia Project, in partnership with the Centre of Excellence for Energy, and NB Power. Empowering Tomorrow will connect clean energy industry experts and youth to inspire climate action and engaging in the green economy. Educators in anglophone school districts can register their class, club, or student groups at no cost. The Glebe Community Association’s Environment Committee is hosting a Tour of Heat Pumps in the Glebe on Saturday, May 10, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. This event offers Ottawa residents a chance to visit homes with installed heat pumps, learn from homeowners’ experiences, and get answers to their questions about heat pump technology, installation, and incentives. This one-day course is designed to provide participants with hands-on experience in analyzing decarbonization projects. It covers fundamental concepts such as incremental costs, carbon pricing, net present values, total costs of building ownership, and how to determine the necessary elements for a decision matrix. Throughout the day, participants actively engage in creating a business case for a decarbonization project by going through each step. At the end of the course, participants are asked to present their decarbonization recommendations. This course provides tools and knowledge to analyze the total cost of ownership and create a business case for decarbonization projects. The Advanced Building Energy modelling course is focused on developing skills that energy modellers utilize in creating energy models for buildings with complex systems and using those models to conduct in-depth analyses of energy performance. This approach is now more frequently implemented for new construction projects as well as deep energy retrofits in existing buildings that need to meet the increasingly more stringent energy efficiency requirements of building codes. This course is designed for participants that completed the Building Energy Modelling Professional course or have similar knowledge. It is assumed that participants understand how building systems operate and have developed energy models in EnergyPlus for buildings with conventional systems that resulted in working energy model files. This two-day course is focused on modelling and analyzing advanced high-performance building systems using hands-on exercises and case studies. The Advance Building Energy Modelling course provides participants with the knowledge required to model high performance buildings designed to meet increasingly more stringent building code requirements.

This includes strategies with project teams, installation quality, product ideas, and operations. Many homes share similar approaches- what are they? We will cover single-family, multi-family, new, and existing homes.
