We're hiring a Digital and Social Media Intern

About the Role

We are seeking a Digital & Social Media Intern to assist with national campaigns aimed at securing policy change. In this position, you will gain hands-on experience using your design and communications skills to mobilize people across Canada to take action toward an energy efficient economy.

This position is ideal for new graduates and upper-year undergraduate or graduate students seeking a 4-month or 8-month term and looking to gain substantial professional experience using communications to help secure real-world change within the advocacy and not-for-profit sectors.


This position operates remotely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help grow, monitor, and engage our audiences on Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Create on-brand, creative visual assets for social media and the website using Canva.
  • Assist with website updates on our WordPress site.
  • Transform key moments into social media content using Descript.
  • Curate and add content to the career hub job board and events calendar.

Key Requirements

  1. Must be a Canadian citizen, a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada or legally entitled to work in Canada.
  2. Must be based in Ontario for the duration of the internship.
  3. Must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years at the time of internship.
  4. Must own a reliable computer and internet connection is required.
  5. Academic background in, or strong interest and understanding of, communications, public relations, journalism, and digital media.
  6. High level of reading comprehension and attention to detail.
  7. Experience with WordPress, Descript and Canva is a strong asset.
  8. Familiarity with or interested in energy and environmental issues in Canada.
  9. Bilingual (French/English) would be an an asset.
  10. Comfortable working remotely and using remote work tools (Slack, Google Meet, Asana, etc.).
