Certified Energy Auditor (CEA)

Energy auditors analyze and evaluate how energy is used in commercial and institutional facilities, identify energy conservation opportunities, and issues recommendations on areas in which consumption can be reduced or optimized. There are three main types of energy audits:

• Level 1 audits (walkthrough surveys that serve to rapidly identify opportunities for energy savings).
• Level 2 audits (energy survey analyses commonly used in commercial buildings).
• Level 3 audits (detailed analyses of capital -intensive modifications).

The five-day Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) program provides participants with the fundamental knowledge needed to evaluate how energy is used in facilities and identify areas in which consumption can be reduced. It also covers useful calculation methodologies through practical examples and peer exercises.

This is the right course for you if you are or will be involved in commercial building audits and want to expand your knowledge about the complete energy auditing and reporting process. Additionally, the course prepares you to take the exam and earn the CEA certification.

• The CEA is an acceptable certification allowing professionals to verify building energy use data under Ontario’s Reporting of Energy Consumption and Water Use Regulation.
• The IESO subsidizes up to 50% of training fees for the CEA program under their saveONenergy Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) Certification Incentive.

The Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) certification program is focused on audits for commercial and industrial buildings only and does not qualify participants to perform residential audits.
