ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager® Webinar: 301-Maximize Usage with Advanced Features

May 20

Building on the skills developed in the first two workshops, this final ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager® 301 webinar explores advanced features that allow participants to go further with the tool. Participants learn how to generate more complex reports and templates, as well as how to begin setting baselines and checklists to support long‑term building performance tracking.

The workshop also introduces the Sustainable Buildings Checklist, a built‑in feature of ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager® that helps asset managers establish consistent strategies for operating and maintaining buildings sustainably. The checklist is structured around five key focus areas: integrated assessment and operations, optimized energy performance, water conservation, enhanced indoor environmental quality, and reduced environmental impacts.

What is ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager®

ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager® is a management tool designed to measure and assess the energy performance of commercial and institutional buildings. Following widespread use in the United States, Natural Resources Canada adapted Portfolio Manager for use in Canada, where more than 26,000 buildings have been entered into the tool.

Over the years, Portfolio Manager has grown in popularity and usage because it allows users to understand energy consumption and associated costs (energy, water, and other resources), compare their buildings to similar properties, establish benchmarks, set realistic targets, and track the impact of reduction strategies through customized reports.

What you will learn

  • Update data using the spreadsheet upload feature.
  • Set baselines, goals, and targets to plan energy improvements.
  • Create custom reporting templates.
  • Use the Data Request Template functionality.
