Webinar – Energy Corridors: Expanding Interprovincial Electricity Transmission and Trade

Online

Momentum to expand interprovincial electricity transmission and trade is building and Provinces and Territories appear readier than ever to overcome historic silos and enhance East-West electricity transmission capacity. What are the long-term benefits — for the economy, for grid reliability, and for the environment — and are they finally at hand? Join senior energy leaders Mark Sidebottom (Nova Scotia Power), Tim Eckel (formerly SaskPower), Vittoria Bellissimo (Canadian Renewable Energy Association (CanREA)) and Philippe Dunsky for a timely webinar on what expanded interprovincial transmission in Canada could mean. Together, they’ll explore: The Opportunity: insights into the regions, technologies and projects currently at play, as well as the key benefits that expanded transmission can offer. The Challenges: despite several success stories, interprovincial transmission in Canada has been limited. For Indigenous communities, TK continues to serve as an important building block on how we determine change and environmental impacts on any particular activity. The Environmental Assessment (EA) process in its broadest sense is not new to Indigenous Communities, however, over time it has been formalized and serves as an interaction between their knowledge systems and Western development.
