We're hiring an Engagement Coordinator

About the Role

We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic and driven Engagement Coordinator. 

The Engagement Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting Efficiency Canada’s mission to drive policy change and advocate for an energy-efficient economy. Reporting to the Engagement Manager, this position offers an opportunity to actively engage with supporters, lead newsletter production, maintain database integrity, connect with industry stakeholders, assist in social media activities, map political contacts, and provide administrative support for Communities of Practice.

The Engagement Coordinator will report directly to the Engagement Manager.

The location of this role is remote.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage Efficiency Canada’s supporters to deepen involvement in core issue areas like building codes, provincial policy, clean heat, workforce development, and energy justice, encouraging impactful actions such as campaign participation, event attendance, and advocacy for related policy changes.
  • Lead the monthly newsletter process, overseeing all aspects from content conceptualization to distribution, ensuring timely delivery, and analyzing performance metrics for future improvements.
  • Regularly update and maintain Efficiency Canada’s database, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and segmentation for targeted communication by adding new contacts, removing outdated entries, verifying details, tracking interactions, recording engagement levels, and implementing data hygiene practices.
  • Connect with other nonprofits in the energy efficiency sector through various channels, establishing and maintaining beneficial relationships, seeking collaboration opportunities, staying informed about industry trends, and representing Efficiency Canada in relevant networks.
  • Support the Communications team in crafting social media posts, creating visual content, and executing advertising campaigns to enhance online presence, amplify messages, and increase audience engagement and awareness.
  • Create a stakeholder map of Efficiency Canada’s political contacts, identifying key individuals or organizations with influence, conducting research to map relationships, assess support levels, and develop strategies for effective engagement to advance organizational goals.
  • Provide administrative support for Efficiency Canada’s Communities of Practice, facilitating communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among members by organizing meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, managing platforms, coordinating events, sharing resources, and ensuring smooth operations. 

    Key Requirements

    1. Education: Recently graduated from an undergraduate program and/or is currently enrolled in a graduate program. 
    2. Experience: Interest in or basic understanding of energy efficiency-related policy and political advocacy.
    3. Technical Skills: Familiarity with CRM databases (Nationbuilder, etc.) is advantageous but not required. Proficient in remote collaboration tools (Slack, Google Meet, Asana, etc.).
    4. Soft Skills: Strong writing and communication skills, ability to work as part of a team, attention to detail, and ability to connect with individuals over video calls.
    5. Additional Requirements: Must be a Canadian citizen, refugee status holder, or legally entitled to work in Canada. Bilingual proficiency in French/English is an asset. Must own a reliable computer and internet connection is required.

    Additional Requirements

    • No more than 30 years of age at the start of the contract; 
    • Graduated from a post-secondary program; 
    • A Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or person who has been granted Refugee status in Canada; 
    • Must reside in Ontario;
    • Not in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) during the contract; and, 
    • Not currently working for Efficiency Canada.
