Lessons from the U.S: Low-income EE Programming

Join us as we kick off a new year of DiscoverEE sessions! Helping us set the context for some of Efficiency Canada’s resolutions are Diana Morales, Research Analyst, and Steve Nadel, Executive Director of ACEEE. Steve and Diana will join us to talk about low-income programming in the U.S., including the Weatherization Assistance Program and Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. They will compare notes on some of the metrics of programs in each country, and discuss what Canada can learn from their recently released report, Meeting the Challenge: A Review of Energy Efficiency Program Offerings for Low-Income Households. Abhilash Kantamneni will join to provide a Canadian comparison from the “Efficiency for All” report released last year, followed by a discussion about what Canada can learn from the US. The world of energy efficiency is dynamic and varied. There are more than 436 000 Canadians working in energy efficiency – from HVAC to window installers, policy analysis to programming, energy advisors, engineers, and managers and so much more. The ‘Becoming’ series gives you a chance to get to know some of the people that make up the energy efficiency sector, while discovering new careers, job paths and training opportunities. ‘Becoming’ webinars will consist of a 20 minute presentation followed by a 25 minute community discussion (Q&A) for a total of 45 minutes. Presentations will happen on the third Tuesday of each month.

What Municipalities Need to Know About Net Zero Emissions Building Codes

Kevin will walk through what municipalities need to know about net zero emissions building codes, to prepare for the 2025 net zero emissions building code. Everyone is welcome, though this will be particularly powerful for municipal staff and elected officials. You’ll walk away with a better understanding of the tools and information you need to lead the implementation of net zero emissions building codes.
